Ian Morris has been ruled out of action for Torquay for two months after scans revealed the extent of his knee injury.
The 24 year old, a summer signing for the Gulls from Scunthorpe United, sustained the damage whilst on a course at the beginning of the week.
"Ian reported for training on Monday morning and was doing a Level 2 coaching course along with Lee Mansell. He felt a bit of stiffness in his knee, so we went for a job and his knee gave way," Torquay boss Martin Ling said.
"He saw the doctor for a scan and the news is bad. He has got some bone floating in his knee, which has come away from somewhere. He will see a surgeon tomorrow and looks like he could be out for a couple of months."
Morris had make a good start to his Torquay career, making ten appearances for the League Two side this season.
