Sheffield Wednesday striker Gary Madine has been handed the Football League Young Player of the Month award for September after a fine run of form that has seen him notch 10 goals in 12 appearances.
Owls boss Gary Megan said Madine fully deserved the accolade, "He didn't set off in the first couple of games in the manner that he wanted to in terms of goalscoring, but the way he was playing and the effort that he was putting in suggested that eventually the goals would come."
Madine signed for Wednesday under former boss Alan Irvine last season and initially struggled for goals, managing just 5 in 22 appearances. He has been a revelation this term and the FA's Head of Youth Development David Wetherall expects him to continue his impressive spell.
"Gary has demonstrated that he is another fine example of the quality England talent being produced at Football League clubs up and down the country. I hope his career continues to go from strength to strength."
