Maidenhead boss Johnson Hippolyte has backed midfielder Ashan Holgate to make a name for himself at York Road and show supporters his talents.
The 24 year old moved to the Blue Square South side in the summer after his Swindon Supermarine contract expired and Hippolyte is looking to him to shine in the upcoming fixtures.
"When we signed Ashan I went home and had a nice big glass of brandy, I thought it was a feather in our cap. He's a player we had been after for a fair while so we were all delighted, and in pre-season he looked great, he was big and strong and looked the player we hoped he would be."
Holgate sustained a knee injury at the start of the season, something that Hippolyte believes has prevented the player reaching his full potential.
"Even now he's not fully up to speed. He's only about 80% which is why he's only lasting 60/70 minutes. But he will come good. I can understand fans' murmurs and frustrations and he will be the first to admit he hasn't shown yet what the real Ashan Holgate is like."
