The 22 year old, a former Brighton & Hove Albion youngster, has been on trial in Asia since last month and Sports boss Gary Wilson understands he has had a successful time there.
"Sonny has played a few games over there and I hear it went well. We need to speak to his agent and find out what's going on."
Cobbs was once a player of great potential, described by his former boss Jason Hopkinson as a "wonderful player", "whole hearted, passionate and committed." He will hope to replicate that early form if he takes the plunge and makes a permanent move to Lebanon.
