TRURO CITY: WINDING UP PETITION ISSUED

Blue Square South side Truro City have been issued a winding up petition by HMRC.

It is understood the petition was handed to the club in late August, requesting representatives of the club to appear in court at the end of October.

A statement issued by City said, "Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs have taken an unduly aggressive approach to a tax liability by issuing a winding up petition. The background to this matter is that Truro City were chasing HMRC and only recently were advised of the amount of debt due. This was a result of HMRC failing to demand this debt over the last two years."

Truro's current chairman Kevin Heaney has been in the press recently attempting to buy League Two club Plymouth Argyle who are themselves experiencing high profile financial problems.
