Richard Chaplow could be in line to face his former club this evening as Southampton meet Preston North End in the Carling Cup.
The midfielder spent three seasons with Preston before moving to the Saints in January of this year and despite being one division below them Chaplow knows the League One side won't be a push over.
"They seem to have picked up under Phil Brown. From what I've heard, they get the ball down and pass it which is the way Preston teams under Irvine [Alan, former Preston boss] did well, and I'm sure they work their socks off so it's going to be a tough test for us."
"We're going into the game doing well in the Championship, so we'll probably be slight favourites in the game, but Preston won't be coming here looking to get turned over, they'll be in our faces, pressing us high and want to play football."
The Saints beat Swindon 3-1 to make it to this stage in the competition, Preston ran out 2-0 victors over Charlton Athletic in the first round.
