Welsh Premier side Prestatyn Town have announced the name of their new chairman, Phil Merrick.
Merrick fills the gap left by Tony Thackeray who left the club during the summer and brings with him a wealth of business experience in the banking and finance sector.
Speaking on the Merrick's appointment club secretary Tom Butterworth said, "I would like to take this opportunity to formally welcome Phil to the club and I am sure he will prove to be a great asset as we look to build on what has already been achieved here.
In an interview with the Daily Post, Merrick discussed his plans for the club and how he will not throw money at it willy nilly, "I've been quite clear with the committee, I will commit time and my business knowledge."
"I'm not one of those chairmen who's going to pay in thousands and thousands of pounds, and I don't think that's right, I think the club should stand on its own two feet. My ethos, the business model I'm going to put in place at Prestatyn, is all about self generating income, so it's about getting more people through the turnstiles, looking at what deals we do with sponsors, deals with kit suppliers, caterers, that sort of thing."
57 year old Merrick was formerly a player at Prestatyn and also managed the club during the 1980's.
