Leicester City's director of football Andrew Neville has revealed in an interview with the Leicester Mercury how he finds reports of his side 'buying promotion' to be out of order.
According to Neville, newspaper reports of the wages currently on offer to prospective signings at the Walkers Stadium are above and beyond the actual facts.
"Some of the fees we have been quoted as paying for players is ridiculous and way out of line. They have just been inflated."
Leciester have allowed manager Sven Goran Eriksson to splash the cash this season, the current outgoings are reportedly at £15 million, but Neville has stated that the club have not paid over the odds for players despite other teams knowing they have a wealthy backers.
"We have tried to get the best value we can on the players we have been targetting. We are known to have investors who are willing to invest in the squad, so right from the start our position has been more difficult."
"We have withdrawn from deals where we felt it wasn't right to pay that much."
