The centre back had featured in all of the Robins' fixtures this season but manager Lee Sinnott seems intent on reshaping his defence after his side conceded 10 goals in their opening seven games.
Jones only signed for Altrincham in the summer after being released by Blue Square Premier side Barrow.
Joining the Robins in his place is AFC Telford's Rob Williams who has signed up on a one month loan deal.
