Rumours surrounding the midfielders future have been in the press for the past few weeks and it was widely expected that he would depart Upton Park ahead of next week's transfer window.
The 30 year old had been the subject of a bid from Premier League newcomers Queens Park Rangers but it looks like Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has won the race for the England international.
