City manager, Brendan Rodgers said, "We have had an offer from Bournemouth for Shaun. I have spoken to him and to Lee [Bradbury, Bournemouth manager], and Shaun now has some time to think things over."
MacDonald began his career with Swansea, coming through their youth system, but has not featured for the Welsh club in two years.
He has spent previous seasons out on loan with League One side Yeovil Town, making 63 appearances for the Glovers.
