The P & A Partnership, the group working as administrators for Plymouth Argyle have threatened to quit after receiving abusive messages from supporters of the club.
Brendan Guilfoyle, working with P & A said, "Unless protestors desist it is highly likely that the joint administrators will take steps to resign from office on Monday."
A spokesperson for the Argyle fan's trust refuted the claims and insisted any abusive messages had not come from it's fans despite admitting to urging supporters to put pressure on the administrators to complete a takeover deal sooner rather than later.
"The initial note from the Fans Trust contained an instruction to fans that their points were made fairly and with no foul language and people were treated with respect at all times."
Guilfoyle admitted the threatening messages have been a distraction from the day to day running of the club, "Not only is the campaign disrupting our business and taking our focus off the job in hand, we are also deeply concerned about the associated risk to the wellbeing and personal safety of the P & A Partnership staff."
Plymouth Argyle are currently in talks with businessman James Brent to agree a takeover of the club.
