Derby County have confirmed that their striker Steve Davies will be out of action until the new year following surgery on his fractured skull.
The 23 year old sustained the injury in the clash with Southampton at the weekend and manager Nigel Clough revealed the extent of the injury in an interview with the club's official website.
"It was an innocuous incident as well with no intent from the Southampton player at all. He is going to be out for the best part of 12 weeks and we will miss him."
Davies has scored five goals in ten league appearances for the Rams this season. He has struggled with a series of injuries since moving to the club from Tranmere Rovers in 2008.
