Richard Hinds has been told for a second time in two months that he has no future at Crewe Alexandra.
The 31 year old started a second trial with the League Two side last week after boss Dario Gradi had a change of heart, but he will not be retained at the club.
"I don't think he's going to play in preference to what we've got," Gradi told BBC Stoke.
Hinds, a free agent following the expiration of his Sheffield Wednesday contract, was originally on trial with the Alex in August.
