BALLYMENA UNITED: ALLEGATIONS OF RACISM

Ballymena United are the subject of an investigation into allegations of racist chants being directed at Coleraine forward Leon Knight during their league fixture in September.

The referee who oversaw the match, Raymond Hetherington, is understood to have recorded the incident in his post-match report. The fourth ofifical is thought to have informed him of monkey impersonations being aimed at Knight during the game.

This is not the first time that Ballymena have been implicated in racism allegations. Two years ago the club were handed a fine after it was found that Dungannon Swifts goalkeeper Alvin Rouse was taunted from the stands.

An IFA investigation is ongoing into the incident involving Leon Knight.
