Marcus Williams made his debut for Sheffield United on Tuesday evening as they were beaten 3-0 by Huddersfield Town.
The 25 year old had only agreed a loan deal with the Blades that morning, something he expressed his delight about after the match.
"Ideally I am hoping to extend my stay here, I have got a month initially and the manager at Reading knows I need to be playing first team football. For me it is nice to be back home [Williams was born in Doncaster] and living locally. It has been difficult moving away and I think I played my best football at Scunthorpe when I had the support of my family and friends."
The defender spent eight seasons with Scunthorpe before moving to Reading on a free transfer in 2010. He has however struggled to make an impact on their first team, managing just three appearances since signing for the Royals.
