Chabaan, 29, has turned out for Leatherhead, Farnborough and Exeter City in the past while young McCrae started his career at Peterborough United.
The K's boss Alan Dowson spoke of the mixture of experience and potential he has now injected into the squad with the two additions.
"Ali is a good experienced player who I've been after for some time. He can play in a number of attacking positions and will add to our firepower. Romone's a bright young lad who did well against us in pre-season and we're looking for a midfielder to add goals to the side."
