Speaking to the club's official website assistant boss Craig Shakespeare said, "At this stage we're still waiting to find out the full extent of it but the early signs aren't brilliant. We'll wait for the results of the scans, but we wish him all the best because he has been magnificent since he came back into the side."
The former Nottingham Forest and Scunthorpe left back sustained the injury in training during the week.
