The 34 year old joins on an emergency loan from Leicester City and the Grecians boss Paul Tisdale was happy to have secured the midfielder's experienced head.
"We are in the process of building a team and at the moment we need someone with a bit of experience who can make good decisions and Matt was an ideal choice."
Oakley has made two appearances for the Foxes this season, both in the league cup.
