Despite rejecting moves in the transfer window, Powell expects Benson's opportunities to be limited this season and thinks a move away from The Valley may be the best option for the striker.
"I've been open with Paul that if his chances are limited, then we will look at the possibility of him going out."
"Obviously he spoke to clubs and declined moves, which is no problem. It is more a case of him being happy and me as well."
Clubs who were rumoured to be interested in the 31 year old included Rotherham United and Notts County. Both clubs improved their firepower in the transfer window, singing Alex Revell and Christian Montano respectively.
