CAMBRIDGE UNITED: CONNOR WINS APPEAL AGAINST US

Former Cambridge United midfielder Steven Connors has had his appeal against his dismissal from the Blue Square Premier side upheld by the Football Conference.

The 25 year old's contract at Cambridge was terminated in July of this year, just five weeks after joining the club. The U's cited the fact Connors had failed to inform them of a 'pre-existing medical condition', namely a groin problem.

A the time of his dismissal Cambridge released the following statement, "As Steven withheld vital information about his medical history and an ongoing condition the club was left with no alternative but to terminate his contract."

The player appealed to the Football Conference against his treatment by the club, and the league has now found in his favour following a hearing held this week.

Speaking after the decision Connors said, "I just need to reflect on it, but I don't want to comment further."

The U's declined to comment in depth on the ruling, instead releasing a short statement expressing their shock at the outcome, "The club is stunned at this decision and will be making an appeal to the Football Association."

Connors signed for Cambridge in the summer after being released by Blue Square Premier side Fleetwood. He had turned out for Bradford Park Avenue and Altrincham previously.
